NHSScotland Project Business Cases

There is a compulsory requirement within the Scottish Capital Investment Manual (SCIM) for NHS Boards to publish Business Cases for schemes in excess of £5m. NHS Boards are required to set up a section on their website dedicated principally to such projects.

The approved Business Cases/PPP contract should be placed there, together with as much relevant information as possible. Below is a list of web links which will take you directly to each of the NHSScotland Boards dedicated pages (links open in a new browser window):

Post Project Evaluation (PPE)

Sponsors of capital projects in NHSScotland are required under the terms of the Scottish Capital Investment Manual (SCIM) to evaluate and learn from their projects. This is mandatory for projects with a cost in excess of £1.5 million and should be applied as best practice for all projects. For projects less than £5 million Boards are required to submit summary reports to SGHSC and for projects over £5 million individual reports are required.

PPE Lessons Learned Summaries - Projects less than £5 million

The 2014-15 PPE report has been prepared from summary reports returned by NHS Boards to SGHSC covering post project evaluations for projects costing less than £5 million in 2014-15. This is an important exercise in collecting the shared experience of NHSScotland in delivering capital projects and highlighting key lessons learned to support improved delivery of such projects going forward.
